Acne is a kind of skin disease which affects the oil glands of the skin. This is usually found on the face, however, it may also grow on the back, shoulders, chest and neck, although it is not a threat to your health, but it can be a threat to your skin. This is because of the scars that the disease brings.

This skin disease is also related to pimples, which develop according to various types. The most common of these are: blackheads, whiteheads, papules, nodules, pustules, and cysts. Individuals all around the globe can be affected with these. When you have acne, you will probably hear a lot of comments from people. Some of these may be true. However, there have already been a lot of misconceptions regarding its development. The following are just some of these:

It will get better when you wash your skin thoroughly. This is not true, since the disease is a result of oil buildup and not dirt on the skin. Although it is necessary to wash yourself daily, but when you overdo this, your skin will tend to get dry. Don't believe when people tell you that rinsing your skin several times will alleviate the condition.

The problem will get worse when you eat a lot of fatty foods. When you consume foods which are rich in fat, you will not experience a breakout, although this happens to some people. A lot of people link oil buildup to oily foods, but there is no truth in this. There are just some individuals who have active oil glands, which is why they are more prone to breakouts.

Your pimples are a result of stress. According to a study, your breakout is not caused by stress. However, it is caused by your habits when you are under pressure. You may notice that you habitually place your hands over your face when you are nervous. This is the reason of the breakout, especially when you have dirty palms or fingers.

It will just disappear by itself. A lot of people actually believe that their skin condition will fade away even if they do not find a solution for it. Rather than waiting for your breakout to disappear, get proper acne treatment.

Popping your zits is a good treatment. In contrary, this belief will only make the problem worse. Since the pore is open, it is exposed to bacteria which might lead to infection and scarring.

When one treatment does not work on you, then you will have to live with the problem permanently. There are a lot of medications and ways on how to get rid of pimples. If one medicine doesn't work, then you can try another one.

With these myths, you now know what to believe and what not to believe when people tell you something about your skin disease.
