Have you ever heard of the saying, “You are what you eat”? This rings true for every individual. What you eat and what you drink is evident in your skin.

The results are also evident in the way you look, and the way you carry out yourself. If your diet is comprised of foods which are rich in vitamins and minerals, then you will be able to maintain a healthy and glowing skin. But when your diet consists of processed foods, then you will look deathly pale.

In order for you to know which foods are appropriate to keep you looking young and beautiful, choose among the following:

Water – this is very essential to prevent dehydration. Your body requires eight to ten glasses each day, with the exclusion of sodas and other beverages. Plus, this aids with the purification of the body, washing the toxins away.

Green tea – when your body is exposed to free radicals, you will experience signs of premature aging. You can avoid wrinkly skin at the age of 25 when you opt for this drink.

Fatty Acids – you can look for these in foods which are rich in healthy oils, like flaxseed and walnuts. These are also present in fishes, like tuna, salmon and mackerel.

Selenium – this is a very essential nutrient, since it also helps in fighting off free radicals. This is among the essential antioxidant enzymes which help in keeping the body free from diseases. You can find this in whole grain bread, seafoods, meat, walnuts and Brazil nuts.

Fruits and vegetables – you can choose from a wide selection of these, which all contain necessary nutrients that the body needs. However, since you want to maintain supple skin, then you should opt for those which are rich in antioxidants. Go for strawberries, blackberries and blueberries. When it comes to vegetables, you can choose squash, carrots, red and yellow peppers, and potatoes.

Dairy –
this is rich in vitamin A, which is essential for keeping the skin healthy. The best example of a skin food that is low in fat is yogurt. This is appropriate for proper digestion, which leads to smooth and firm skin.

You should remember to include these foods in your diet, if you want to prevent yourself from looking dry and old. You should also keep away from certain foods, like pasta, white bread, and rice. Plus, you have to stay clear from food groups which are high in sugar and calories. If you are thirsty, do not opt for alcohol, coffee or carbonated beverages. Just drink water or green tea.
