The menopause years are the most dreaded by most people not because of the mood swings and bodily changes but because of the significant manifestations of old age.

The aging process is becoming more evident and noticeable when people enter their menopause years. Through the years, the word 'menopause' has also been synonymous to old age. Thus, most women dread it.

Old women’s female hormones are starting to significantly deplete when they reach their menopause years, which is almost always during the ages of about 50-62 years. Hormones, as you know it are substances that characterize the physical attributes of a person.

Hormones are responsible for making the skin glow more during the puberty and younger years. And they are the substances that are drastically lacking in aging women.

Progesterone is the particular female hormone that is responsible for making the skin glow livelier and take a smoother texture. But you know that as the body ages, the secretion of such hormones also declines. The menopause period is the stage when progesterone secretion in the female body is drastically falling. Thus, during this age, skin becomes drier and looser.

Wrinkling of the skin inevitably onsets when the skin is made very loose. And because the woman's tissues are also losing mass during and after menopause, the skin sags and loosen. Thus, line folding also becomes evident and more noticeable.

If you are in your menopause years, you should be reminded that skincare is still as imperative as ever. You should not stop caring for your skin even in your aging years because if you do, your skin would get worse. Perhaps, the aging process could never be reversed what there are still many measures you could do to take care of what is left to be taken care of, especially your skin.

Overall, facial moisturizers and sunscreen products are the more usual skincare products that are recommended for menopause women. Facial moisturizers as you all know helps keep moisture in the skin. And when there is moisture, glow, texture and health is maintained.

Sunscreen is the product that helps the skin blockout the harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun. Sunscreen products differ in sunscreen protection factors (SPF) or intensity or grades of effectiveness. The higher the SPF goes, the greater the protection becomes. Women in their menopause should still remember to always apply sunscreen to the skin especially prior to an outdoor activity. Use of sunscreen has also been identified as a means of preventing the onset of skin cancer.

Inducing hormones like progesterone is also being looked at. There are current experiments that test if doing so would help the menopause woman reverse or significantly halt the onset of skin aging. However, unless proven by studies, do not induce such a hormone to your body by yourself.

Overall, all people would go through the menopause years once they grow old. It is important to note that old age does not mean that a person becomes ugly and less attractive. It is just that younger ones are taking the spotlight more to themselves. Taking care of the skin while in these years is still never too late.
