It is never too early to start taking care of one’s skin. The earlier you get into a daily skin care routine, the better and more beneficial for you, your skin and even your whole body. Once you enter the stage of puberty, you will notice that your body will undergo major changes and transformations.


Your hormones will go wild and crazy and this may often result in skin blemishes or even breakouts. Before this even begins, you should already equip yourself with the proper tools to make it easier for you to adapt to these changes and transformations. As such, making an extra effort in properly taking care of your skin should begin in your pre-teen years or even before you become a teenager.

Before you even begin to embark on a daily skin care regimen, it is very important to know what type of skin you have. It is very rare for teenage girls to have dry skin and if you think that your skin is in this condition, it would be best to consult an expert on this. Teenagers who have dry skin will have very specific needs that are often tackled on a case-to-case basis. Normally, a teenage girl’s skin can be classified as either being normal or oily. Once you’ve identified your specific skin type, then it’s safe to proceed with the actual skin care regimen that is right for you.

A daily skin care habit for pre-teen girls or teenage girls should not really be that complicated. Whether your skin type is dry or oily, there are generally three short and simple steps involved in daily skin care: cleansing, toning and moisturizing. However, because of present-day environmental conditionals, a very important fourth step was eventually added to this process: protecting.  

Cleansing involves the use of facial cream or gel cleanser throughout the face to get rid of the daily dirt and grime that builds up on your face. These are often caused by environmental conditions and the excess oil that is produced by your skin. Wash you face with water, lather it up with the facial cleanser and thoroughly wash everything off after.  

After cleansing your skin, the next step would be to tone it. Toning the skin means further ridding the skin of dirt and impurities that are deeply imbedded in it, which were not washed out by mere cleansing. An alcohol-free toner is a teenage girl’s best bet so as not to dry your gentle skin.  

Toning is then followed by moisturizing your skin. Moisturizing involves the application of cream that helps the skin lock-in and retain its natural moisture. Excessive cleansing may wash out the skin’s natural oils and the moisturizing process helps the skin regain its original moisture.  

The last and final step to a teenage girl’s daily skin care regimen should involve the application of sun block. Some moisturizers already contain SPF protection but others do not. An SPF level of 15 or more would be best to use in order to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays which may cause premature aging and dryness.
