When you want to keep your skin looking young and healthy, then this means that you have to stop smoking.

Experts say that there is a close relationship between the two. If you constantly smoke cigarettes, you won’t be able to maintain the beauty of your skin complexion. The reason for this is the smoke of the cigarettes, which take away the oxygen and nutrients from the skin. Without these two, your skin will be robbed off of nourishment, making it appear pallid and dull.

On the other hand, cigarette smoke causes hazardous free radicals to develop in the body. Because of these, your skin collagen will turn weak. As a result, you will develop premature signs of aging such as wrinkles and dry skin. According to a study, there is an estimated amount of 4,000 chemical compounds, which are produced when you smoke a cigarette.

Among the harmful chemicals, which cause skin damage when coming into contact with your skin, are: ammonia; acetone; benzene; arsenic; nicotine; carbon monoxide; and tobacco smoke. When you are always exposed to these, your skin will lose the nutrients and oxygen that are keeping it healthy.

Smoking leads to skin damage. Furthermore, it may result to secondary wrinkling on your face and lips. On the other hand, you will also experience aesthetic damages because of the exposure to cigarette smoke. When you smoke, at least a pack each day, the possibility of growing a lot of facial hair is increased to fifty percent. This discovery has been made by the researchers of Wisconsin’s medical college. These effects are also associated with damage to the ovaries, and to hormonal metabolism. Plus, smokers have the tendency to contract a disease to the gums because of the chemicals, which are present in cigarettes.

Wrinkles are caused by tobacco smoke due to the following reasons:
  • The recycling of skin collagen is altered negatively.
  • The skin goes through dehydration.
  • Lines form around the eyes and the mouth due to puckering and squinting.
  • The elastin of the skin is damaged, affecting the skin’s elasticity.

When you smoke a lot, the complexion of your skin will appear gray cast or dull. This is due to the nicotine, which constricts the vessels of your blood. In turn, the delivery of essential nutrients and oxygen is impeded. On the other hand, the carbon monoxide, which is produced by the tobacco smoke, lessens your skin’s supply of oxygen.

The best skin care tip that you have to follow in order to keep the natural glow of your skin is: no smoking for the rest of your life. Even if it means that you have to think up of ways to stop this habit completely.
