For a radiant and healthy skin one has to take extra care. With the multitude of chemical ingredients in today’s skin care products, it is very important to choose the product very cautiously and only natural skin care secrets can crack the chemical code.

Here are the few tips to protect, rejuvenate, and pamper one’s skin:

Food habits: Junk food is overloaded with salt, sugar, fats & spices and reduces the most important mineral in our body, namely zinc.

It is needed for the making of the new healthy cells on the skin. It also delays the flow of important and essential juices which adversely affect the skin and induce embarrassing skin blemishes. Therefore, one should always eat wholesome meals, simply cooked or not cooked at all with plenty of cereals, moderate amount of proteins and as much of fresh vegetables and fruits as you can eat. One should also avoid fried food and eat grilled, roasted or baked food instead. If one still wants to have fried foods then cut them into large pieces and fry them at high temperature so that food is fried quickly and, therefore, absorbs less oil. Further, both salt and sugar are white poisons and should be eaten to the barest of minimum. They not only increase one’s weight but are also great enemies of a clear skin. Sugar does not contain any vitamins and minerals and is fattening and harmful for the skin. Likewise, salt encourages water retention and in turn causes puffiness of the skin. Recommended daily intake of salt is 2 to 3 grams. Water is the nectar of life and one should drink 8 to 10 glasses of water daily. It helps prevents constipation, puts a sparkle in the complexion and clear the blood stream of all the impurities.

Sleep & life style: Take enough sleep in the night. Proper sleep helps the body to renew itself and decaying cells are eliminated through metabolic process. A lesser amount of sleep can result in under eye dark circles, dead skin and disease like high blood pressure, besides it is a scientific fact that it shortens life considerably. An average adult needs 8 to 10 hours of sleep daily. Prayer and meditation are also of an incredible value for maintaining mental and spiritual health.

Skin & body: Intense heat and cold have bad effect on the skin. As heat so is the cold. Both cause skin to get wrinkles, dry and rough. Therefore, one should moisturize skin regularly to replenish lost moisture and natural oils. Swimming in the salt water is good for the skin but one should immediately wash off the salt water with fresh water, otherwise the salt will make the skin dry and will cause burning and itching. If one’s skin is extremely dry, one should never wash it with tap water because the salts and calcium in the water will make it even drier. Use mineral water or softening substances like bath salts instead.
