Going to the salon and setting an appointment with your favorite pedicurist is a great way of treating yourself.
It’s not everyday that you get your foot pampered after a week’s trouble of walking or running from home to work and back. Getting a pedicure, especially a French one, provides you with a relaxing experience. It is not only your feet that benefits from the comfort but your entire body. No doubt that this is one experience we want to have everyday. Sadly, the cost of getting a French pedicure is high. Ranging from $20 to even $30, depending on the services involved, French pedicures could really become a budget strainer. But not to worry, because not only can you get a French pedicure that suits your budget, you can also customize it.
Why? Because you certainly can do it yourself. Right in your own home, with materials that are accessible to you, in your garden, kitchen, and in your box of easy-to-use pedicure tools, you can actually get started. To begin with, make sure your nails are clean of any old nail polish. We have to start from clean nails, and clean feet, too. Remember what was said earlier about local materials from your garden and kitchen that can be used for your feet? In salons and foot spas, they usually bathe and soak your feet on a scented bubbling liquid. Well, you can customize it and use the scents available in your flower garden. If you have aloe veras, you can also use them. The gel inside the leaves of that plant is valued for its exfoliating properties. It could soften the heel where skin would usually thicken and roughen through time. Remove the gel inside the leaves and mix it with warm water. You can put your favorite scents in it or even rub your feet with pumice rock to shed the dry and dead skin. You can also apply a softening lotion and give yourself a quick foot massage. This not only helps the circulation of your blood in the feet, it also soothes the veins, rejuvenating it so it could function better next time. This part could be enjoyable at times but 10 to 15 minutes of this will do. Next step is to apply cuticle oil or cream on your toenails before you push back the cuticles. These products are usually available in drugstores without the fraction of the cost. Then, when the cuticles have been removed, trim your toenails roundly or squarely. But since you’re going to coat your nails with polish, square nails would be the one advisable. You will also need to grow your nails a little longer, as you will need space for the tips. Now, the most awaited part: the application. First, apply the base coat. This is also what you call the first coating. Usually, this is done with pink or peach polish. After it dries, it is time to apply the white tips. This becomes meticulous at times, that’s why square nails are the best, as they have enough space so that it coated evenly. Then, after applying the white tips, you can now spread the final coating. It could be a different color from your nails. Just make sure it would go well with your clogs or stiletto. It’s also part of the whole getup. And there you have it, your very own French pedicure.
