Just because you're a guy and you want your machismo to show doesn't mean that you can live a biker's existence and not take care of yourself.

If you want to be totally "macho," then you have to know how to take care of yourself too.

A daily hygiene regimen is advisable not only for women, but it is also important that a real man like you would take care of himself. If you are dumbfounded with how to start taking care of yourself, then let me walk you through the process.

Before anything else, we would want to have you wash your face.

A great facial cleanser should be used. It has to be non-comedogenic, meaning it should not encourage the buildup of residue in your pores, and it should also be hypoallergenic, meaning it should not induce an allergy in your skin. When you use that face cleanser, you should, by the last rinse, feel clean and refreshed, and your skin should not feel like there has been some residue left on your skin.

After you wash your face, you should now shave. While soap is good, especially moisturizing soaps like Dove, you should actually use shaving gel instead, because it works to soften your facial hair, plump up the roots and allow for an easier and more thorough shave. The end result would also be less ingrown hairs in the future. When you shave, make sure that the shaving gel has been allowed to work into the skin for about 30 seconds to be more effective.

After you shave and dry your face, you should now apply an aftershave to moisturize the area you just shaved, soothe the skin, and prevent dryness. For the rest of your face, you also have to apply a toner, to close up your pores and prevent acne from forming.

After the toner has dried, you should now apply a moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated and plump. It also serves to prevent dry, scaly skin and also wrinkles.

Finally, if you aim to go out and expose yourself to the big, bad, sun, then you also have to apply a sunblock. Without that, you are going to be exposed to Ultraviolet rays, which would speed up ageing, darken, and dry your skin. An SPF of 15 and higher is recommended, especially for athletes. In fact, if you are an athlete, you might need a sunblock with an SPF of 30, especially if you do outdoor sports.

Just follow this process, and your skin will be happier: cleaner, clearer and healthier. If your wife or girlfriend would take the trouble and go through all the beauty treatments just to let you have a woman who is beautiful in every respect, then you owe it to her to look great too. Taking care of your skin, especially your facial skin is not vanity but its hygiene-issue. It would not make you less of a man if you take steps to look and feel great. Doing so actually makes you more of a man if you do.
