Dead skin clogging one's pores is what's causing acne for quite a lot of people.

Thus, it is an imperative for those who desire clear skin to exfoliate often.

But while constant exfoliation is very helpful, sometimes, one would still need to have professional treatment for scars, sun-damaged skin, and dark spots on the skin. One treatment that does this is called Microdermabrasion. Skin is exfoliated by using crystals, with the help of machines.

Peeling, one of the techniques, is like letting loose a sand jet or a sandblaster on your face.

While this really sounds horrific, this is actually pretty relaxing, much like a deep tissue massage.

Another technique involves using a Corundum or Aluminum Oxide machine. The great part is that this treatment doesn't cause allergic reactions like itching, eczema, or psoriasis. These crystals also are anti-bacterial, so bacterial infection-induced acne can be treated better through this method.

Another method, instead of using crystals, involves the use of diamond-tipped devices that abrade the skin. The advantage is that it's more hygienic, but yields the same results. This method is favorable to both health practitioner and patient: this method has lower maintenance costs, less messy, shorter time devoted to the procedure, and it's actually less painful than the crystal-based techniques.

While cosmetic procedures like these are stigmatized to be restricted to female vanity, microdermabrasion for men actually exists. In today's world of metrosexuals, microdermabrasion for men is no longer an alien thought. Men have to take care of themselves too, and the skin is one of the most important frontiers for hygiene, looking good, and having a healthy sense of well-being.

Men have to understand that they owe it to their wives, girlfriends and partners to look good. With options like these, men have no reason at all to make excuses as to why they look less than presentable. Microdermabrasion for men is a solution to icky skin any day.

The most important thing to look out for if you would like to undergo this treatment is the clinician who will perform this. Do not be a cheapskate and decide to shave off the costs by tapping a lesser-paid clinician. True, the price may not be the ultimate barometer for the competence of a clinician, but it's a good place to start. Ask yourself why he or she only charges that much. We all know that the more competent the clinician is, the higher the price he/she can demand for him/herself.
Research on your prospective clinician and ask around for his or her reputation. Ask former clients on how they found that clinic's services. Hunt for malpractice cases, and find out about the clinician's criminal record.

It may seem a little paranoid to you, but remember that malpractice cases for plastic surgery abound. This is a highly lucrative field, and the tendency for clinicians to abuse the field in greed is high. Cases of people who have incurred physical damage and malformation that have resulted from misapplied cosmetic procedures have piled up over the years. While you can surely sue, remember, it's your face we're talking about here, and no millions can eventually make up for your losses when that happens.

Microdermabrasion for men is an option you should look into if you want to speed up the renewal of your skin. While it may cost you some, the results are worth it, especially if you hired an excellent clinician.
