Aromatherapy is the practice of using essential oils to relieve the body of stress and some other ailments.

Basil is dangerous to pregnant women because it contains emmenagogues. Bergamot is another essential oil used primarily in the perfume industry as a base for some perfumes and as an insect repellent. When combined with Eucalyptus oil, bergamot is a good remedy for chicken pox and cold sores. Direct application is used to relieve these skin conditions. Other well-known aromatherapy oils used for skin care and body care are tea tree oil and Lavender oil. Tea tree oil has anti-bacterial capacity and is often used in soaps and ointments. Lavender oil is used in shampoos, soaps, lotions, candles and other products to soothe and calm the nerves of individuals. It can also be used as an antiseptic to cleanse minor cuts and wounds. Papaya essences are also used to whiten skin and maintain its glow. Jasmine, Rose, Ylang-Ylang and sandalwood are popular for their aphrodisiac claims and many soaps and candles have these scents. Other massage oils are scented with lavender and chamomile to promote relaxation and tranquility. Massage is a body care option where the body is soothed and all the stress is massaged away. Aromatherapy is a prime element in massage. These are just a few of the more popular aromatherapy essential oils used to promote skin care and body care products. The demand for organic and natural products has boosted the production and development of many products with aromatherapy. Many people nowadays have opted for more natural means of eliminating stress and other worries. Aromatherapy is a great way to do this without costing as much as drugs or medications.
