Everyone has their own secrets.
There are lots of body “secrets” that a person can keep, and one of the things that a person can hide being plagued with is his/her dry hair: with a little bit of oil, a lot of combing, plus some leave-on conditioner to style your hair, for sure, nobody would notice the fact that your hair is dry. But what happens if your hair is oily?
Causes of oily hair Oily hair could really be reason for a bad hair day. There are two reasons, which you should know, on why this is happening to you: the first reason is the fact that oily hair is hereditary. It is a result of the genes found in your family: if your parents have oily hair, then there’s a great possibility for you to acquire it.
The other is the fact that there might be a hormonal imbalance that triggered the sebaceous glands to excrete more sebum, which is essentially oil produced by the body. Oil is chemically related to fat, that’s why it’s greasy and sticky. The sebaceous glands that produce sebum are usually found in skin areas with hair. In the case of oily hair, the excessive secretion of sebum is not healthy for the scalp, because it not only attracts dirt and dust, it also results to a very itchy scalp. Natural Remedies At this point, everything may seem helpless. But do not fret, because for every problem, there is a solution at hand, and that goes with oily hair. There are different ways how you can control oily hair, hereditary or not. And these are some of the suggested ways you can treat your poor hair and scalp: Shampoo for oily hair – There are certain shampoo products made especially for people with oily hair. Shampoos with milder skin-drying ingredients like sodium laureth sulfate are recommended, because harsher shampoos may cause your sebaceous glands to produce more sebum than it normally does. Jojoba oil – It is a liquid wax similar to the sebum produced by the sebaceous glands. In fact, even its composition is similar. Its main purpose is to restore the oil lost in your hair, if you used something that dried your hair badly. Rosemary oil – It is an effective way of stimulating hair growth. It helps clean the scalp, where the sebum is massively being produced. Tea Tree Oil – This is very useful when it comes to controlling oils in your scalp, because its main role is to strip excess oil, and is even helpful when it comes to maintaining dandruff free hair. Sage – When it comes to dissolving oil that has built up, Sage is very useful. It breaks down the oil buildup, making it easier to remove. Eucalyptus – Aside from its wonderful aroma, this is great for regulating the amount of oil in the skin, thus, controlling the amount of sebum. This could help ease the itchiness in the scalp. Chamomile – This is best for enhancing the shine and beauty of the hair. It helps lighten the hair and for people with highlights, it helps enhance the color. So who says oily hair is a secret that you couldn’t keep? Yes you actually can, because nobody would be able to tell that you had oily hair after taking these steps to control it.
