The skin is home to millions of pores, which produce oil and secrete sweat.
While this is no big deal, the bad part of this is that there is a tendency for the skin pores to trap the dirt in the oil, or what is more accurately termed sebum. For proper skin care, one should use pore-cleansing facial cleansers. Facial cleansers that have exfoliating beads in them are recommended. Exfoliation is a process that seeks to remove the dead cells and dirt that have collected in your skin. It is needed to unclog pores, keep your pores clean and your skin youthful.
Skin cleansers like St. Yves' Apricot Scrub are good exfoliates, and the apricot grits get into the pores to rub out the sebum and the dirt in them. As for the rest of your body, you also have to use body cleansers. While plain old body wash is good, use it with a good scrubber: even a cheap loofah will do. Once in a while, it would be great if you could go for a full body scrub treatment at a good spa. If you want the fully natural, you can actually raid your kitchen for alternatives. To exfoliate, you can use sugar. Do not use salt, because this will strip your skin of moisture due to its chemical properties. You just have to rub your face with the sugar for around a minute or two. When you're done with the exfoliation, you can now moisturize using oatmeal mixed with water, or a bit of fresh milk. Leave it on for around five to ten minutes, or you can even go for fifteen minutes. Then wash it off. If you notice, your skin would feel smoother to the touch. Other kitchen cabinet exfoliants include coffee grounds, which are better if used on your body. Some people use rice husks, other seed grounds like apricot seed bits as in the St. Yves Apricot Scrub. There are other kitchen cabinet beauty secrets that you can discover. Some use tea leaves on their face, and others use fruit pulp. There are celebrities who use pineapple and papaya pulp on their face. The alphahydroxy and other fruit acids in the fruit pulp serve to remove the dead skin, and allow the new skin layer to surface. This process with the fruit acids also helps clean the pores, and the sweet aroma of fruit is very relaxing. The only downside is that it is pretty sticky and messy, so prepare a weekend where you can just let your hair down and pamper, pamper, pamper your afternoon away. If you are squeamish about using fruits and the like on yourself, you can actually go for the more conventional methods of exfoliation: good old scrubbing using a rough material like loofah or some other gritty cloth. While this might seem to be a scary process, it's not. Rather, this relaxes your face, and is a very delicious way to pamper yourself. It even has the added benefit of allowing for your blood to circulate more effectively around your face. After all the pampering, seal up your pores with a good toner. Toners help close and reduce pores, to keep them from collecting dirt and grime. Remember, to keep your skin beautiful, you have to clean and exfoliate your face, then seal your pores with toner, and finally, moisturize. Skin care need not be a chore. You only have to be creative, use fun stuff like fruits on yourself, and you can have clean, clear, beautiful skin sans the towering bills.
