If you ask your granny, or any old person you know about the
skin care
regime in their time, almond oil would be mentioned. Today too, if you check out the contents of some of the most popular skin and hair products, you will see the almond oil figures a lot everywhere. Used since centuries for its excellent moisturizing properties, almond oil is also a great emollient.
It not only nourishes and softens the skin, but also helps it retain the moisture. The chemical composition of almond oil is very similar to the oils that a baby’s body secretes to keep the skin soft. The benefits of almond oil for skin are many. No matter what your age, almond oil keeps the skin looking and feeling healthy. Almond oil for skin also takes care of the skin’s complexion. Many beauty products contain almond oil for
dry skin
especially. The oil is easily absorbed into the skin and gets rid of itchiness, scaly skin, rashes, soreness and irritation. Application of almond oil is also beneficial for burnt skin. Using almond oil for skin care has been popular for some time. This is because it aids the skin in maintaining a proper balance of moisture. When treating dry skin, this particular property of almond oil has proven to be excellent. In fact, to get maximum benefit from almond oil for skin care, it is often mixed with body scrubs and exfoliants to moisturize the body deeply while exfoliating. The uses of almond oil for skin do not end here. The oil is used extensively by massage therapists, as a carrier oil. This is because almond oil spreads on the skin very easily and is absorbed so well that it leaves but little residue on the skin. A carrier oil is one which is mixed with other oils and is used as a base oil. Essential oils are also added to almond oil to give it a more pleasing aroma. Sweet almond oil, because of its low price, sweet aroma, and excellent lubricating properties, is the most popular oil to be used for massages. Always keep a bottle of almond oil with you if you live in an area with harsh and cold weather. You can use almond oil for skin care and also apply it on your lips to prevent them from drying, chapping and cracking. However, if you purchased the oil and didn’t use it for a year, it is best to discard the oil and buy another bottle because there would have been a severe loss of the oil’s quality upon storing it for so long.
