Many men experience hair loss. Some men experience hair loss as early as high school age while other men notice that their hair is thinning or balding later in life. There are several different theories for why a man might experience hair loss.


One of the most common types of hair loss is baldness.

Baldness is defined as the complete or partial loss of hair primarily along the scalp. Male baldness may spread over the entire area of the head. Baldness is also known for only occurring in certain spots. The causes of male baldness include aging, hereditary factors, scalp disorders, reaction to drugs, ionizing radiation and disease that affect the entire body. Another reason for baldness can be hereditary factors.

In male pattern baldness the oil glands and hair follicles of the scalp begin to deteriorate and a man’s hair will become thinner and thinner. Usually in male pattern baldness a man is left with a few strands of downy, fine hair. This type of baldness is usually caused from hereditary factors. The most common inherited type of baldness is when the man experiences hair loss that is spread evenly. Usually the hair loss begins as a partial loss of hair around the crown of the head or the upper temples. There are several surgical procedures that can reverse the process of male pattern baldness.

Diseases that may cause male baldness are disorders of the endocrine system, scarlet fever, typhoid fever and malnutrition. Malnutrition usually causes a gradual amount of hair loss. It us important to eat a well balanced diet in order to have a healthy head of hair.

When baldness is caused from the aging process it is usually because of hormonal changes that the body goes through. Hair loss in men is a very common problem that affects thousands of men each year.

A man who is balding or experiencing thinning of hair has several options. There are several hair restoration procedures that can be performed in order to restore the natural, full looking appearance of hair. A hair transplant physician must perform the procedure.

Baldness can be a factor that affects how one feels about their appearance. If you are experiencing thinning or balding hair it is important to evaluate what the cause may be. This may help curb or slow down the amount of hair loss. Hair loss is a problem that can be dealt with in a number of different ways.
