Care for Combination Skin

Every day we struggle to live a life that is full of complexities. Have you heard that our face likewise is constantly dealing with complexities? And what are these?

One of the most significant skin intricacies, which bring worries and stress to our beauty-conscious women, is having oily skin in some parts of their face and having dry skin on the other part. When you have both of these skin types, you are dealing with a combination skin. Basically, you will experience a customary feeling of normalcy on most areas of your face.

The T-zone area, which is that portion of the forehead down to the nose and chin, shaping like a T, is that part where the most oil is concentrated.

If you have a combination skin, you are really facing a very challenging skin care regimen, which would also seem like an unattainable goal. Fortunately however, there are ways and means, which you can do to make that skin healthy and feel good.

As a general rule, always clean your face twice a day with a mild cleanser, if possible before bedtime and as you wake up in the morning. These are the moments when your face requires cleansing. If you have this combination skin, you really should.

Moisturize. Getting a good moisturizer for those dry portions of your face is a good idea. As you will note, these dry portions are not in the T-zone. Do not use a moisturizer in your T-zone area if you do not want to deal with another skin problem.

Our main objective in dealing with a combination skin is to regulate, stabilize or create a sense of balance between the dry and oily areas of your face. Choosing beauty products, such as those which have alpha hydroxyl (fruit acids or AHAs) or retinols to attain this will make your skin feel and look good. Retinol is an offshoot of vitamin A. You should bear in mind that the name of the game here is continuity. Once you have used AHAs, you should continue using them because the moment you stop, cell regeneration will not be as effective as when you use AHA. What’s more, your skin condition will likewise return to what it once was in so short a time.

Controlling that shiny look on your face is also a dilemma. To solve this, use only makeup with an “oil-absorbing” label, as this would infuse the oil from your face to avoid that shine. However, this will pose a problem to the T-zone area.

Knowing and identifying the problems of a combination skin and finding the necessary solutions to treat it can make your skin feel and look beautiful inside and out.
