Dry skin doesn’t always produce the same physique it represents since once eczema takes its tool at its fullest or psoriasis decides to make your skin its turf, you can immediately go from the once dry and itchy feeling to a cracked and painful skin. Cracked skin can be painful, especially when you tend to have certain activities that require effort and it tends to get much worse. Common cases of cracked skin can be found mostly on the heels of the feet and on the knuckles of the hand.

Fortunately, there are things you can do to prevent and treat that cracked skin of yours.

Prevention

First thing that you have to do is start soaking the area in regular occasion. By hydrating the affected area, the skin absorbs its needed moisture like tiny sponges and you should do this at least 20 minutes each night. Once finished, pat the area with a dry and soft towel.

Once you have hydrated the skin cells, you now have to keep the moisture in there for proper treatment. Apply a petroleum jelly product to seal the moisture within the area of the skin, put on your socks or cotton gloves for the hands then you can go to bed. During your time of sleep, the moisture revitalizes the skin cells and assists the feet or hands to heal properly.

For Existing Cracks

So, what about the existing cracks and splits? There is actually something that you can do to relive the pain that you are experiencing and seal them up for good. It may sound really crazy, but you can do this with the use of super glue. Dermatologists stated that it is actually all right for the minor slits and cracks to be applied on with super glue since this will take away the air from the nerves and also it seals up the cracks. You can add this to your moisturizing method to help put the pain away for good.

Cracked Lips

Our lips can also be the playground for cracked skin. This is actually a different matter so it is better for you to provide preventive measures than to treat it with the use of a lip balm. Tartar control toothpaste is considered as the perpetrator to this one so it is important to reduce the use of this toothpaste, use lip balm on your lips and keep your body hydrated.

You wouldn’t want to have cracked lips, heels or on your hands’ knuckles. And it’s hard even to imagine having one. The first thing that you have to do is to prevent this from happening through proper hydration of your body by drinking fluids and provide necessary measures, like soaking, to thwart the cracked skin development.
