One’s crowning glory is the be-all and end-all.  Without hair, man feels reduced to the lowest fraction of humanity.  Balding men and women resort to all panaceas and potions promising a head of full hair.

The search for the Holy Grail to a head of lush strands ends with surgical solutions.  Surgery for hair transplant was done as far back as the 1950s with success.   But then the surgical approach to hair replacement had to be perfected to give the natural look.

Modern hair transplant by surgery is the fastest and surest way to have hair on a balding head.  The surgery is done by replacing hair with the grafting method.   Grafting hair by portions makes changes periodically; hence, the result is not startling.     A more natural hairline is achieved.  A balding man looks instantly younger after a hair transplant.

Micro grafting produces the closest to a natural look.  Each micro graft will contain about three to four hair roots.  These grafts are placed around larger grafts to make the hairline a softer hairline, eliminating a comical effect.  A combination of larger grafts for the back and smaller grafts worked towards the front created the best effect.  It is difficult to detect if a patient has undergone this type of surgery.  The hair growth seemed natural, not a contrived hair transplant.

It is more effective to have one hair transplanted at a time – this takes a longer time and is very costly.  But the effect is stunningly natural.    During the operation, the hair grafts are inserted into the recipient areas.  Skin punctures for the insertion measure about 0.5 mm to 2 mm, which makes the operation a laborious exercise.

Injections on the donor site make the operation a painful one.  During the procedure, many will experience swelling on the face and forehead.  When this happens, work has to be discontinued.  Although some will find the procedure quite bearable, this may not be so for the others.

Before an operation, a surgeon should carefully discuss the operation with the patient.  Oftentimes the patients expect too much, and may likely be disappointed with the results.    Patients should not expect though that the procedure can give them the hair they used to have.  They will no longer be bald, but they will not have thick lustrous growth, hair at least will back on your head.   But still compared to hair growth products, hair transplants are the fastest way to achieve real hair on your head.
