So you want that sleek straight hair. A hair iron should do the trick. They come in three kinds: metal, ionic, or thermal.

No matter which of the three you use, hair ironing is synonymous to exposing your hair to serious damage. Read on for some helpful tips.

For one, keep your hair iron in good condition. By keeping it clean, you don’t only lengthen its life but that of your hair as well. Also, you might have to blow dry your hair before ironing, as ironing a wet hair is a big No No. Before blow drying, apply some styling aid to avoid frizzing. Do not make the mistake of suddenly using a hair iron for the first time on a special occasion. It will take you a longer time to achieve the straight look if you are without practice. Practice beforehand so you won’t have to be late on that special event.

For easier ironing, divide your hair into sections. Stack up on hair clips. They will be your assistants. Comb each section right before you run the iron on them. Remember to use smaller sections. Finally, switch your attention to the hair iron itself. Clean its surface after it has cooled down so you’ll have it ready for your next use. You don’t want to use it the very next day though. Exposing your mane to excessive heat for a continuous period will damage your hair. Hair irons are for occasional use only. Anyway, you don’t want to bore people by wearing the same hair style everyday. Try practicing on other types of hairdo. Again, do not experiment on something new before a special occasion, as it will take a lot of time. Moreover, you are not sure if the hair style will fit you.
