Poison Ivy Skin Treatment

Poison ivy skin rash is referred to the development of skin rashes due to the contact with the poison ivy plant. This plant contains some toxic substances. Our skin is normally sensitive to these toxins. Therefore, when some body is exposed to these toxins he develops rashes. Thus, it is a type of allergic reaction.

The rashes develop within one or two days after the exposure. The symptoms include development of bumps and blisters on the limited area of the skin. They are marked by red and curved lines. These symptoms persist for sometime which depends on the amount of toxin to which your skin has been exposed.

It is always better to avoid coming in contact with these plants and their toxins, as artificial treatment is not available. Therefore, you will have to wait for the time it is cured naturally. Prevention is not always possible as this plants grows everywhere in the United States it is difficult to identify because its appearance is rather common with many wild plants.

The Poison Ivy Skin Rashes are not fatal and they do not have any serious effects as well.

Nevertheless, it is uncomfortable and therefore medications or topical applications are advised to control the itching.
