In shingles, skin rash the virus varicella-zoster that is present in the body of the people who have suffered from chicken pox in their childhood becomes active.
The external symptoms shown by it include rashes on some parts of the body for example head, neck, back, etc. the skin in these regions has a feeling of burning, tingling, numbness, sensitiveness., itching which leads to strong pain, etc. moreover, other symptoms include development of blisters, fever, headache, stomach upset, etc.

The common complications that have been observed scarring, hearing loss, bacterial infection, effect on vision, paralysis on some part of the face, muscle weakness, nerve pain for a long term (postherpetic neuralgia) and allodynia in which the skin becomes so sensitive that even a slightest touch like breeze over clothes can cause severe pain.
