Age Spots on Skin Causes
Aging is not the exact cause of age spots but are related more to excess sun exposure. According to the experts age spots are really sun induced freckles. They are mostly seen on the back of the hands. However, if have had a significant exposure to the sun you may also get them on the face and the shoulders. Though age spots are very common in old people they may also affect the people in late twenties, thirties and forties if the person is having excessive exposure to the sun. When we grow old even small amount of sun exposure can cause age spots. The ultraviolet rays in the sunlight cause tanning of the skin and excessive tanning causes more pigmentation leading to flat brown spots on the skin known as age spots. Age spots are also sometimes known as sun spots or liver spots. Age spots are harmless and they do not form into skin cancer. However some forms of skin cancer look like age spots hence you should show them to the doctor. If you have age spots that bleed, tingle, itch or change size then you should see a doctor. There are many treatments for age spots like bleaching, chemical peel, etc.
