Diagnosis of Skin Rashes
There are a number of reasons, because of which skin rashes develop. Therefore, the skin rash can be treated effectively only if the proper reason is diagnosed. Because so many reasons are associated with skin rash, the diagnosis may be a complicated process. In some cases, it can be done by a general physician however; it is advisable that you take the help of a professional i.e. a dermatologist.
The first thing that the diagnosis would include is study of the symptoms. The rashes themselves in most cases show the same symptoms redness, itching, scaly patches, irritation, sensitivity, and pain. However, in some special cases like ringworm rash, the type of rash can be diagnosed easily from the appearance. While in the other cases other symptoms, for example fever, etc, are useful for identifying the reason of rashes.
Diagnosis also includes study of the case i.e. the medical history of patient, the time for which he is suffering from the rashes, etc. therefore the doctor will ask you such questions, which you should answer correctly.
Then, based on this initial diagnosis, if needed, he will suggest some clinical tests as well. However, this is required in very few cases where some infection or disease is responsible for the rashes. The clinical tests may include analysis of a sample from the skin affected by rash, or other tests like blood tests etc. radiological methods also may be required.
