When you woke up today, you thought it was another normal day. But when you looked in the mirror you went completely beserk! You just had some fever last night, but what's this? You are all red! If you have had high fever and then got the rash, then you might have caught the toxic rash syndrome. Toxic rash syndrome is a fatal disease but occurs very rarely. It is caused by a strain of bacteria called Streptococcus pyogene. It is only wise to consult your physician in such a case without any delay.
If you have a rash and a very high fever, then you might have got the scarlet fever. The word scarlet means red, referring to the color of your skin due to the rash. Most people compare the rash's appearance to sunburns. Many people might think it is measles but look closely. There are tiny bumps instead of the big ones that you get in measles. The symptoms are of course first the rash, then lethargy and a bad throat.
The throat might have a yellow or white coating. The fever will reduce after a few days but the rash will take its own time to get cured. By the end of which, your skin will start to peel off. It is also caused by a strain of bacteria called Streptococcus pyogene. Antibiotics are a good solution for combating this disease, but it is advisable to see a doctor. Also, you get scarlet fever only once in your life.
If you are a child or a teenager and have fever which has then lead to the development of rash, you might have what is called as the 'Fifth Disease'. The Fifth disease is a viral illness which occurs in winters and spring. After the fever has subsided the rash appears, which may take at least three weeks to heal. The rash might increase due to exposure to sunlight or stress. Some symptoms that accompany this disease are sore throat, swelling of glands etc.
Rashes accompanied by fever are very common in newborn babies. Their tender skin is highly prone to any viral infection that might be doing the rounds.
