To a large extent, the condition of your skin depends on your health and your diet. In addition, some basic measures to protect and moisturize your skin, if undertaken regularly, will give you soft, beautiful skin. Age however is certainly a factor, so you should not expect your skin to look the way it did 20 years ago. Some amount of aging is only to be expected, and is nothing to be ashamed or afraid of. If you take good care of yourself and your skin, you can however have healthy skin, even if it's not as smooth as a teenager's.
Make sure that you drink enough water daily, and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Apart from this, use your common sense and judgment to ensure that your diet is well balanced. In addition, avoid excessive exposure to the sun, particularly in the middle of the day when the sun is highest. If you need to go out at such times, use an appropriate sunscreen or, better still, cover yourself adequately.
Wash your face several times a day, depending on how exposed your skin is to dust and pollution, but avoid using soap too often, and when you must, use only a mild soap. In addition, you can use a moisturizing lotion regularly if your skin tends to get dry. A daily face wash using milk, honey, and sandalwood powder should also help.
