Dye brown hair to blonde

I have brown, shoulder length hair and blue eyes. I want to dye my hair blonde but I don't know whether it will look good on me. What should I do?

There is no real way to answer this question without actually seeing you. For some people, the best hair color is their natural hair color. Blonde hair does not look good on everyone, and at the same time, black hair does not look good on everyone. The same goes for other hair shades and colors. On the other hand, there are some people who change their hair color quite frequently and almost always look good, no matter what color they use. A few people in fact look much better after having dyed their hair. Since you have blue eyes, there is a good chance that dyeing your hair blonde will suit you. Blonde hair tends to go well with light eyes, particularly with blue eyes. However, you have not mentioned your skin color, and this is another consideration. Blonde hair usually looks better on light skin, primarily because if done well it can look entirely natural. On people with dark skin, blonde hair tends to look a bit strange, and rather obviously artificial. However, for some people this is not a problem - a lot of fashion modifications that people undertake are not really meant to look natural, and the artificiality is in fact part of the look. If this is the kind of look you are going for, then having dark skin should not be any reason to keep your hair brown.

The length of your hair does not really affect the suitability of any particular hair color. Your hair type (straight, wavy, curly, or frizzy) and the kind of hair cut you have are two considerations, but there is no simple correlation based on which one can say whether blonde is a good color for you. One thing you should consider though, is the health of your hair - if your hair is already damaged, you should avoid subjecting it to harsh chemicals. First take care of your hair for a few months, and then try dyeing it. You should also make sure that you use a good quality dye and get the treatment done by a reliable, reputed hair dresser. Your hair dresser will also be able to advise you on whether you should dye your hair, particularly if you have been going to him or her for a long time. Finally however, you will need to decide whether blonde hair will suit you, and if you are still unsure, decide whether you want to take the risk.
