Skin care for dark skinned people and especially men is often over looked. However there are many differences in skin care for dark skinned people. If you have dark spots on your skin then you can effectively treat it using vitamin c or kojic acid in order to fade the dark areas and balance the light and dark spots. Consult your dermatologist as to which skin care products contain these ingredients. The use of these products needs to be carried out for at least 5-7 weeks in order to yield effective results. Regularly use a gentle exfoliant as it helps improve the appearance of your skin and helps the proper removal of dead skin cells, make sure you use a product that is suited to your skin type depending on whether it is dry oily or normal.
Keep your skin well moisturized and make use of vitamins to keep your skin healthy and fresh. Avoid taking a very long shower if your using hot water as it tends to suck out the moisture from your skin. Instead of using a normal soap use a liquid cleanser and follow it up with a moisturizer directly after bathing. though it seems like dark skinned people are less likely to get damaged by the sun, having dark skin may actually put you more at risk as the there is a smaller chance of detecting the anything that may go drastically wrong with your skin. Therefore it is advisable to wear a good sun screen lotion with a proper sun protection factor (a minimum of 15 is needed) in order to protect your skin from sun damage due exposure in the long run.
