Acne, medically referred to as acne vulgaris, is a condition that arises when the pilosebaceous units of the skin undergo an alteration. A pilosebaceous unit comprises a hair follicle and the associated sebaceous gland. Acne usually affects the skin on the face and the upper neck. However, the chest, shoulders, and the back can also face the ire of acne vulgaris. Acne can also be caused due to hyperactive sebaceous glands or hormonal changes during puberty. Hormonal changes lead to an increase in sebum and sebum brings about acne.
To combat acne, the first step is to check your diet. Include natural food substances that provided large amounts of vitamins A and E. For vitamin A, you must include carrots, broccoli leaves, sweet potatoes or spinach in your meals. As for vitamin E, you will find it in avocado, nuts, olives, red palm oil and green leafy vegetables. Apart from the diet, do remember to take Epsom salt baths as often as you can. In addition to this, you can also orange peels to treat the acne. Mash the peels into a pulp and apply them on those areas of the skin affected by acne. Lastly, ferment the affected areas with hot water. This opens up the pores of the skin and you can then have the acne squeezed out.
