The skin on our feet often goes dry and can look really bad. Usually this is noticed during summer or winter but often it does not require any specific reason for the skin on your feet to look dry. If this is not attended to, it can cause cracks in the heels. Dry skin on the feet tends to look very bad and requires taking care of at the very earliest. Applying a moisturizer is the best and the most effective way to get your skin looking soft and moisturized again. It is a good idea to apply this moisturize when your feet are wet. This helps the moisturizers get absorbed into the skin. it instantly makes the skin look really soft.

If you have cracked heals you should first get rid of the cracks in the cracked heals. Otherwise your feet will not look good, no matter what you do. It is believed that nay kind of oil or shortening can be used effectively to heal the cracks. Clean your feet at bedtime and then apply this shortening on your heels. Put on a pair of socks and go to bed. Do this regularly and you will notice that the cracks heal. You can also use the pulp of a ripe banana on your feet. This will help your skin become soft. Keep the banana on your skin for some time and then wash off.

You should also pamper your feet. When you get back from work treat yourself to a soothing bath for your feet. Warm some water and add some salt to it. Soak your feet in this and then, when you feel relaxed, dry your feet (remember to pat them dry). Mix your favorite cream with the juice of one lemon and apply this on your cracks. You can also make your own home made mixture to apply on the cracks of your feet. Mix rose water and glycerin and store in a bottle. You can use this regularly to soothe your feet and to help the cracks get better. A mixture made of paraffin wax and some mustard oil also works wonders on cracked and dry feet. Apply this on your feet, concentrating especially on the heels. You should ensure that your feet are always clean. Always dry your feet well after you have a bath. Try to avoid walking around bare feet. Instead make sure that you wear shoes when going out. It is not advisable to go out without any shoes protecting your feet since this will only increase the cracks in your feet.
