It is not clear what exactly you mean when you say that your hair is losing strength. Are you experiencing a lot of breakage? Split ends? Has your hair –  either individual hairs or hair growth – become thinner? If you are not sure exactly what is happening or if you are actually losing hair, you should visit a hair specialist to find out the cause and a suitable method of treatment.

If you are simple experiencing a lot of hair breakage and split ends, then this is quite certainly the pollution, and it should not be too difficult to get the problem under control. First of all, if you have split ends and broken hair, you should get a trim. There is no cure for split ends, they can only be prevented. Once hair has split or broken, it must be cut to where the hair is still healthy. If this is not done, the hair will continue to split, getting worse and worse. Once you have gotten rid of the damaged part of your hair, you can get down to the task of protecting it from further damage. A few simple measures are more than enough – cover your hair with a scarf, a hat, or whatever headgear you find comfortable whenever you go outdoors. Wash your hair frequently, even daily if necessary, but make sure that you use a suitable shampoo. For daily use, a mild shampoo is advisable, but you should see what suits you. You should also condition your hair after each wash. A conditioner not only makes your hair soft, smooth, and manageable, it coats your hair, thus protecting it from damage from sun, heat, dust, and pollutants. Using a natural conditioner such as coconut oil may also help; the frequency will depend on you. If daily washing seems to be making your hair dry, you should try oiling your hair every alternate day. In all other cases, oiling once a week should be enough. Do not go out with oily hair – ideally, you should oil your hair at night and wash it in the morning. However, avoid going out with wet or damp hair.

Washing your hair more frequently will most probably also get rid of your dandruff problem. If after two or three weeks of regular washing you still have dandruff, you should switch to an anti dandruff, anti fungal shampoo for a few weeks. You can also try applying tea tree oil to your scalp during this period.
