Please keep in mind that small babies have delicate and sensitive skin that changes everyday. Unless you feel that there is a specific reason why your baby has such a spot, your best option is to leave it alone. If it remains increases or spreads within about 48 hours, then you can take your baby to a pediatrician for a proper medical examination. If it recedes, you can simply leave it alone. However, if it remains unchanged, then you can assume that it is probably an insect bite or some sort of a small boil that has erupted. There could be many causes for such marks. But to begin with, you cannot positively assume anything about the mark. If your baby is under the age of six months, then you should simply continue with whatever it is you are doing for her. Try not to make any changes in her daily routine or anything that might further upset her. This is assuming that you are giving the baby a proper massage on a daily basis. If not, then this is a good time to start. Pure extra virgin olive oil can be used for this purpose. Gently massage the baby's body and limbs, paying special attention to her legs. Olive oil will add to the strength of the baby's legs. You can wash her off with any usual baby soap after this massage. Remember to use warm water for the bath, as this will help doubly well to remove any excess oil.

Oil massages with olive oil are generally very useful in removing small marks and glitches that you may be noticing in the baby's skin. A well fed baby, who is not on medications of any kind, will be particularly quick to heal. Take care that your baby is in this category, and you will not have to worry about stray marks and dots. On a different note, you should also check your baby thoroughly and make sure that she has not managed to injure herself. Sometimes, it is very difficult to determine if a small child has hurt herself. It is particularly tough if you have a cranky baby - you will most likely never know why she is crying! If you suspect that the red spot on your baby's skin is due to excessive heat, then you can make a paste with sandalwood powder and rose water and apply this to the skin.
