Acne is a major complaint of many young people who get these ugly, often painful pimples on their face during their adolescent years. Acne is mainly caused by the changes in the hormonal balance, which is adolescents and women going through menstruation are the ones who are affected the most. Other reasons for acne are oily skin and lack of proper cleansing of the face. Even people who are suffering from bowel disorders suffer from pimples because of the toxins accumulated in their system. You can use simple home remedies to treat your acne problems. It is imperative to wash your face twice a day using a mild, antibacterial soap. You should also maintain a healthy balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables, avoiding greasy, fried and processed foods, refined sugar and refined flour. It is also important to keep drinking water to flush out the toxins from your system.
You can make a paste of turmeric powder and neem leaves which you can apply on the face, covering the affected areas properly and washing off with cold water after half an hour. You can also make a paste of turmeric powder with lime juice and use it as a face pack every other day. Turmeric has beneficial properties for the skin and helps to prevent acne and other skin infections. Apart from turmeric, you can also prepare a paste using dried and ground orange peels with rose water. Similarly an effective anti-acne pack can be prepared using sandalwood powder, Fuller's earth and rose water. Fenugreek leaves ground to a paste can be applied on the face at bedtime and washed off in the morning. This will gradually reduce the acne problem. Application of a paste of ground nutmeg with fresh milk on the acne helps to get rid of them without scars. You can also apply a paste of cinnamon powder and honey on the acne before you sleep and wash it off the next morning. Alternately you can make a paste using cinnamon powder and lemon juice which you should apply directly on the acne, but avoid this remedy if you have sensitive skin. Rubbing garlic on the affected areas is also recommended for acne treatment. You should also regularly wipe your face with a cotton ball soaked in mint juice to cleanse it properly and prevent acne. Finally remember to avoid junk food, eat correctly and drink plenty of water to keep your system clean and healthy and thus prevent acne.
