The type and amount of hair you have is decided by genetic factors but your diet, lifestyle, choice of products can adversely affect your hair. It is extremely important to follow a healthy balanced diet rich in proteins, vitamins and minerals with plenty of vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds. It is equally important to drink plenty of water and fresh fruit juices to keep your body hydrated and fighting fit which will also reflect in the healthy and appearance of your hair. Apart from this, remember to use mild, natural based shampoos and conditioners for your hair, avoiding harsh chemical products which can damage your hair. It is also essential to protect your hair from the sun, wind and pollution, so you should cover your hair with a scarf or a wide-brimmed hat when you step out in to the sun.

In addition to this, there are several simple home remedies you can use to treat the problem of thinning hair and excessive hair fall. It is recommended to regularly massage your scalp using coconut oil, almond oil or castor oil. This stimulates the circulation of blood in the scalp, strengthening the hair follicle and reducing hair fall. You can mix some fresh Aloe Vera juice in the coconut oil and use this to massage your scalp to get shining, healthy hair. Massaging your scalp with a mix of 1 cup mustard oil and 4 tbsp Henna leaves which have been boiled together and strained is beneficial for stimulating hair growth. Apart from this, you can also massage your scalp with a mix of honey and 1 egg yolk. Leave this mix in your hair for around 30 minutes before washing it off with a mild shampoo. Eggs are used to prepare other packs which are beneficial in reducing hair hall. A mix of 1 egg, 2 and half tbsp milk powder and 1 tbsp wheat germ oil can be used to massage the scalp. You can apply a mix of 1 egg and 1 spoon of Indian gooseberry powder on your hair and wash it off after approximately 30 minutes. Another good hair pack can be prepared using 2 eggs and 2 tbsp each of powdered Indian gooseberry and acacia concinna. You can also prepare a natural shampoo at home by boiling 100 g each of Indian gooseberry and acacia concinna in 2 l of water till it becomes half the initial quantity. This can be stored in a bottle and used for up to one month to wash your hair and reduce hair fall.
