It will be necessary to actually look at your face and hair in order to suggest a hair style that will suit you, but we can give you a few guidelines to help you find a suitable style. Finally however, you will need to rely on your hairdresser, so you should look for an experienced, reputed hairdresser. Someone with enough experience and skill will be able to combine his or her knowledge with the kind of look you are hoping for, and give you the best hair style for your face.

First of all, if you have a long, thin face, you should avoid keeping your hair too long. This is especially true if you have straight hair. Long, straight hair on a long, thin face will accentuate the shape of your face and make it look still longer. Shorter hair will make your face look less long, it will add some breadth to your face. The ideal length of hair is usually slightly above the shoulders, but of course you will need to see what works for you. Shorter hair than this might also look good, but if you are not sure, slightly shorter than shoulder length is a very safe bet. If you want to keep your hair longer than that, you can let it be long at the back, but cut it to taper - get a V shape or a sharp U shape, with the back long, the sides off your shoulders, and the front in bangs. Since you are not too happy with the shape of your forehead, the bangs will also help you cover this part of your face. By covering your forehead, bangs will also make your face appear shorter, thus solving two problems at once. One more thing you should probably try is cutting your hair in layers. Layers will make your hair fuller at the sides; this too will give your face more breadth and take the attention off the length of the hair and face.

There are of course several variations that you can choose from. There are probably a hundred different hair styles for hair that is less than shoulder length, and many different types of bangs too. Layers can also be done in many different ways. But the ideal hair style for you is probably one that incorporates these three features. If your hairdresser advises you differently, you should probably find a new hairdresser.
