There is no way to prevent wrinkles completely; they are a natural part of the aging process. At the most, you can ensure that your skin does not develop wrinkles too early in life, and that the wrinkles are not too many or too severe. To some extent, wrinkling, like many other aging processes, is determined by your genes. Some people have relatively good skin even well into middle age, while others develop wrinkles considerably earlier. This is partly influenced by lifestyle and diet, but genetics too play a role, and are of course beyond our control.

Still, as mentioned, factors such as lifestyle and diet do have an effect on the state of your skin, so it is important to do whatever you can in these areas. The two most important things that are necessary in order to keep your skin looking as soft and young as possible are protecting it from the sun and drinking enough water. Some amount of exposure to sunlight cannot be avoided, and is in fact necessary for your health. However, excessive exposure to sunlight damages the skin in many ways and hastens the development of wrinkles. You should therefore wear clothes that cover your skin adequately when you go outdoors, including a hat or cap to cover your face. Also, applying a sunscreen lotion will help provide some additional protection - the lotion should have an SPF (sun protection factor) of around 35 or 40, and should be applied around half an hour before exposure. This is also the only way to keep your skin fair - skin color is determined by your genes, and at the most you can prevent your skin from darkening by protecting it from too much sunlight.

Keeping your skin hydrated is very important - dehydration leads to dry, dull skin, which allows wrinkles to develop. The best way to keep your skin hydrated is from within, by drinking plenty of water. In addition, if your skin has a tendency to become dry or if you live in a place where the weather is dry, you should moisturize your skin on a regular basis. The best time to moisturize your skin is just after you have bathed, as your skin has already absorbed moisture at this time, which can then be retained by the lotion or cream.

Finally, diet and exercise are important factors, because they keep your entire body fit and healthy. There is no specific diet that you need to follow in order to control wrinkles, just ensure that you eat a wide variety of fruits and vegetables.
