Though one is born with the type of skin one has, it changes with age due to external factors such as exposure to pollution, wind and sun, use of unsuitable skin-care products and medication, hormonal imbalances and medical conditions which adversely affect the skin. If you have dull, dry and problematic skin, it is crucial for you to take good care of your skin by improving your diet, including plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet and drinking plenty of liquids throughout the day to keep it naturally moisturized and glowing with inner health. You should also stick to a strict skin-care regime, using natural cleansers and toners to keep it squeaky clean, soft and supple. It is important to wash your face at least twice a day, using a natural glycerin-based soap or face-wash. Apart from washing your face, you should also use natural toners to get rid of any left-over residue on your skin and to restore the natural moisture which is removed during washing.
You can use ingredients from your kitchen to cleanse your face naturally and effectively, leaving it looking fresh and soft. Wiping your face with raw milk everyday in the morning is said to be beneficial for improving the skin tone. Alternately you can mix some cucumber juice with milk and use it to wipe your face with a cotton ball. Rinse your face with cold water once you are done. This cleanses the skin, leaving it shining fresh. Wiping your face daily with carrot juice is beneficial for keeping your skin free of blemishes and other skin problems. It also acts as a natural toner, cleansing your skin, closing the pores and tightening the skin. A mix of tomato juice and honey applied on the face 15 to 20 minutes before your shower will help to naturally cleanse the skin, keeping it free of skin ailments and leaving it glowing and soft. Yoghurt is excellent for the skin and you can use it to prepare a good face pack with gram flour and lemon. Daily application of this face-pack helps to keep the skin clean and fair. You should also include plenty of yoghurt in your diet to keep your skin clean from inside. Chamomile is also known to be beneficial for the skin and you can use it to make a natural cleanser with some milk or honey and lemon juice. Chamomile is effective in improving dry and even oily skin acts as an excellent toner as well. Other herbs that can be used to prepare a good face cleanser and toner include rosemary, parsley and lemon balm for normal skin, marigold and elderflower for dry skin and peppermint and sage for oily skin.
