A simple way to identify an allergy to a particular substance is to observe how the body reacts to the substance. If you can use make up or adhesives without any negative reaction, then you are obviously not allergic to any of the ingredients in these products. If on the other hand, contact with make up or adhesives causes you to develop a rash, inflammation, itching, blisters, nasal congestion, sneezing, breathlessness, nausea, or any other problems, then you are allergic to some substance in the product. With products such as make upa and adhesives, the allergic reaction is more likely to be on your skin. Note that the allergy is not simply to "make up" or "adhesives" - you may just be allergic to one or two ingredients in the make up or adhesive, and if you can find a product that has a different composition, you will be able to use it quite safely.

Apart from this obvious and simple way of identifying an allergy, you can get yourself tested by an allergist, or allergy specialist. This test will identify all the substances that you are allergic to, and if, for example, you know that you are allergic to lipstick, the test will be able to tell you exactly what substance in the lipstick causes an allergic reaction. This does however depend on the extent of the test - usually, a kind of concise test is performed, which checks for common allergies. For people with rare allergies that are difficult to identify, a more exhaustive test must be performed.

Treatment for allergies is varied, and some people consider it not worth the expense and trouble. Many people prefer to simply avoid the allergens, instead of undergoing treatment. However, even if you decide to simply manage your allergy through avoidance, it is a good idea to know what to take in case of an allergic reaction, and have access to this medication, especially if your allergy is severe. There are several drugs that are used to block an allergic reaction, including antihistamines, cortisone, and decongestants. These treatments do not cure the patient of the allergy, but only temporarily block the allergic reaction after exposure to the allergen.

To actually treat the allergy itself, desensitization is the treatment that is used. This is usually a kind of vaccination, in which the patient gradually made to become accustomed to the allergen. If you want to cure your allergy, you should consult a specialist about these options.
