There are several factors that contribute to helping you have clear and glowing skin - these include your diet, lifestyle, skin care regimen, and the general state of your health. Simply applying home remedies is not going to give you clear and glowing skin; an all round, holistic approach is what is needed.

As far as your diet goes, there are certain nutrients and foods that are particularly important for the health of the skin, but it is better to have a diet that is generally balanced and healthy instead of concentrating on these nutrients and foods. Fruits and vegetables are of course especially important, particularly citrus fruits, leafy vegetables, and nuts. However, excessive attention to a few areas often results in neglect of others, and you will end up with some other problems. An exhaustive list of dietary requirements would include almost all the vitamins, and you should therefore simply make sure that you eat a wide variety of foods, while avoiding an excess of junk food and oily, fatty foods. In addition, ensure that you drink plenty of water, as dehydration greatly hastens the development of wrinkles and many other skin problems.

Along with this, exercise is essential for the health of your body and your skin. If you enjoy sports or a proper workout, great; but if not, you should at least engage in activities such as brisk walking or swimming for at least half an hour a day. It will keep your body functioning well, and this will be reflected in your skin.

As far as skin care goes, protection is essential - from the sun, from wind, and from pollution. Some amount of sunlight is essential, but avoid exposing your skin to sunlight for long periods of time, especially on a regular basis. This damages the skin and leads to sunspots and more severe wrinkles as you age. Apply moisturizing creams as and when necessary - it is important that you prevent your skin from becoming dry. If the moisturizing creams and lotions contain vitamins, so much the better - there is still some dispute as to whether topical application of vitamins is any use, but there is quite certainly no harm. Avoid using soap too often, as it dries out the skin, and ensure that any other skin products you use are also mild. Avoid unnecessarily using chemicals on your skin, including bleaches and make up - the damage might not be obvious right now, but as you grow older it will certainly show.
