Developing dark spots on lips, swelling on the lips

My lips have developed dark spots. They itch and sting after eating certain foods and are sometimes swollen when I wake up!

Although there is no solid precedent of the symptoms you are describing, there could be a variety of things that could be affecting you. To be sure, the dual symptoms you have described are very unusual. Dark spots by themselves would be a totally different problem from the swelling and itching by itself. If you have been afflicted with these problems for more than a couple of weeks, you are advised to visit a doctor and get a medical examination done. This would be a safe thing to do, because you will be provided with an early diagnosis if there is indeed something serious. If not, you can successfully eliminate at least that aspect of things. You should try to go and see a dermatologist if possible. This kind of doctor is the best person to tell you exactly what is troubling your lips. In all probability, you are suffering from allergies in a big way. It is possible that you are allergic to whatever food it is that is causing itching and stinging after eating. Since you have not specified what kinds of food cause itching and stinging, it becomes difficult to specify. Generally, if you have excessively dry lips and you eat spicy or sour food, then you will face this problem. You need to check and see if this is the case.

In any case, swelling of the lips in the morning can be an indicator of water retention. Sometimes, people who face water retention can face swelling of the lips, feet, face and hands. It is also possible to experience general bloating if you are faced with this problem. If you are having this kind of bloating, then you should try to cut back on your salt intake. If water retention is the problem, this will give you definite relief from it. For general allergies, the best thing you can do is work towards strengthening your immune system. This will help to take care of your allergies more in the long run that momentarily. Take a daily dosage of Indian gooseberry. This is an herbal supplement available in stores that sell natural and supplemental foods. You can also take a daily dose of Echinacea as an alternative. This will also help to strengthen your immunity greatly. But keep in mind that these methods will work in the long run, as opposed to showing instant results. Your best bet is to be perseverant.
