Most people forget to take adequate care of their feet in their daily skin care and beauty regime. The result is dry, cracked heels the skin of which peels off and which lead to much discomfort and even pain. These cracks or fissures in the heel appear when the skin of your feet becomes excessively dry, but they can also appear due to a deficiency of Omega-3 fatty acids or zinc. If cracked heels are a common problem, the treatment is also rather simple. The first and more important thing to do in the treatment of dry, cracked heels is to take good care of them by keeping them clean and well moisturized. For treating peeling skin on feet, you should soak your feet daily in a tub filled with warm water and some soap suds to soften the skin of your feet and get rid of the dirt which gets accumulated in the cracks. This will also soothe the exhaustion of your feet and make you feel better. After around 15 minutes of soaking your feet and drying them properly, you can gently scrub off the dead skin on the soles of your feet using a foot scrub and then apply a good foot moisturizer on them. Alternately you can apply a mixture of petroleum jelly and lemon juice on the cracked heels. Remember to pull on a pair of cotton socks after this, so that the cream or petroleum jelly gets absorbed properly by your feet.

Apart from this, there are a number of simple home remedies you can follow for the peeling feet treatment and cracked heels. While soaking your feet in warm water, you can also add a few drops of lemon juice instead of the soap suds. This helps to cleanse and soften the skin of your feet. Honey added to the water is also beneficial since it not only softens the skin of your feet but its antiseptic properties keep infections at bay. To moisturize your feet, you can look for creams with cocoa butter, Shea butter, Aloe Vera etc. Creams that contain some percentage of almond oil, jojoba oil, avocado oil or coconut milk are also very good for the skin, especially for dry feet. You can add a few drops of spearmint oil and eucalyptus oil to your foot cream or even to some baby lotion and use this to moisturize your feet. It moisturizes and soothes your feet at the same time. In addition to all this, ensure that you are drinking the recommended amount of water and fresh fruit juices and have a healthy, balanced diet rich in Vitamin A which promotes the health of your skin.
