Discolored spots on the face can be caused due to a number of reasons, but one of the common reasons for yellowish-brown spots on the face is age. People nearing the age of 40 and above 40 are prone to these dark spots on the face, neck and hands. This usually occurs due to the exposure of the skin to the sun over so many years but it is also due to changing functions of the body's metabolism. Liver dysfunctions which lead to accumulation of toxins in the system can also lead to these age spots. Yet another reason for age spots is the excessive oxidation in the system and a lack of adequate antioxidants in your diet. There are some simple home remedies that can help to prevent the spread of these age spots and get rid of them over a period of time.

Apple Cider Vinegar can be used to treat age spots. You can mix apple cider vinegar and onion juice (extracted by chopping, blending and squeezing an onion in a cheese cloth) and apply this mixture using a cotton ball on the age spots. Daily application for a period of 2 months is beneficial for making the spots fade. You can continue the treatment for another 6 weeks if the spots have not gone completely. Alternately you can add 3 tbsp of apple cider vinegar to a glass of warm water with some honey to improve the taste and drink it twice a day for a period of one month. Aloe Vera gel has been known to treat all kinds of skin problems. You can cut a small portion of the Aloe Vera leaf and rub the juice that oozes out directly on the spots. You should notice positive results within a month. Like with apple cider vinegar you can also orally consume the pulp or juice of Aloe Vera daily to help fight age spots and other skin related problems. Lemon juice which acts as an antioxidant and natural bleach can be applied on the spots daily for a period of two months to gradually fade the marks. Finally castor oil is also recommended to remove these unwanted age spots. Daily application of castor oil on the affected areas will help to reduce the spots in a month's time. If the spots continue to appear at an alarming rate and the home remedies have no result, you should consider consulting a doctor to rule out the possibility of skin cancer.
