This is a very strange occurrence, and you should probably be prepared to live with this black patch on your skin. We can suggest a few treatments and skin care measures, but if you have already consulted several doctors unsuccessfully, it is extremely unlikely that home remedies, over the counter medications, and skin care measures will be able to get rid of the patch. Skin problems are extremely difficult to diagnose without actually seeing the affected skin, except for the obvious problems such as acne, allergic rashes, and so on. For most other problems, it is usually necessary to personally consult a general practitioner or a dermatologist, who will be able to physically examine the skin and perform some tests too, if necessary. Without the information that is obtained from these sources, it is almost impossible to treat such an unusual and persistent problem.

To begin with however, you should be very strict about protecting your skin. This includes protection against sunlight, pollution, and unnecessary chemicals from products such as make up. If the pigmentation has occurred due a reaction with your make up or some similar product, this needs to be stopped completely. Similarly, in case this is some sort of pigmentation problem due to sunlight, exposure to sunlight needs to be avoided, or the patch will never disappear. Avoid being outdoors at all during the peak sunlight hours, and whenever you need to be outdoors during the day, ensure that you are wearing a hat to shade your face.

In order to get rid of the patch, you can try an over the counter cream containing 2 per cent hydroquinone. It is of course possible that one of the doctors you have visited has already prescribed hydroquinone. In this case, do not try it again, because the prescription cream was probably stronger than the over the counter cream, and if the former did not work, neither will the latter. In addition, hydroquinone is suspected to be carcinogenic, so it should not be used for a long period of time.

You can also try a home remedy that is supposed to lighten skin, although there is as yet no scientific proof that this really works. Simply mix some honey with turmeric powder and sandalwood powder, and rub this mixture on your skin. Leave it on your skin for ten minutes, and then wash it off with plain water. If all these measures do not work, you should consider going in for laser treatment, as this has a higher chance of success.
