Since you have mentioned the fact that you have a four month old baby, in relation to your hair loss, I assume that you are the mother of the child. If you are the father, then of course, there is absolutely no connection to your hair loss. The first few months with a newborn baby can be quite stressful, but you would not suffer such severe hair loss as a result of this stress. You should therefore simply visit a hair specialist, as there is probably some other underlying reason for the sudden and drastic hair loss.

For the mother however, pregnancy and childbirth involve a lot of changes in the body, including major fluctuations in hormone levels, and as a result, hair loss often occurs. In fact, during the months immediately after the birth of the child, hair loss is quite common. Do not worry too much about this hair loss, as it will resolve itself on its own within a few months. By the time your baby is a year old, the hair fall will stop, and your hair will be completely back to normal.

As you have probably noticed, during the pregnancy, your hair probably looked much better than it ever had before. This is because of the higher levels of estrogen in your body during pregnancy. Some amount of hair loss is completely normal for every human being - hair grows for a certain period of time, after which it falls out, and new hair grows in its place. With more estrogen in the body, hair grows for a longer period before falling out.

Once the baby is born, your body changes once again, and your estrogen levels fall quite drastically. Naturally, your body takes a while to adjust to this change, and during this period you might experience some unpleasant occurrences such as the excessive hair loss. With the drop in estrogen, the growth period of your hair also falls drastically, and so a lot of hair will fall out at a time. However, this will gradually stabilize - in fact you are quite close to the end of the problem. By around the sixth month after the baby's birth, your hair growth will already begin to normalize. There is no need for any treatment for the hair loss, whether you are looking for medication or home remedies. At the most, you can take a short hair cut for the next few months, so that the hair fall is easier to manage.
