All of us love to have healthy and strong hair, but unfortunately, some factors that influence hair growth are beyond our control. You have not mentioned your age and gender, but if you are a man over the age of 30, you should visit a hair specialist, otherwise known as a trichologist. Even if you are a woman, or if you are a younger man, you might eventually need to visit a specialist. As they grow older, men (and sometimes women) start to experience hair loss as a result of follicles shutting down. Occasionally, this also affects younger men, and is known as premature balding. This is unfortunately a genetic problem, and for the most part cannot be controlled. Certain drugs have been developed in recent years however, and these can stop the hair loss, and in very rare cases, even reverse it to an extent. But it is important to address the problem at the earliest, so if dietary and hair care measures do not, work, you should make an appointment with a specialist as soon as possible.

The most important features of a healthy diet are variety and balance. You will often hear about specific nutrients or foods that are good for the hair, but if you were to make a list of all the nutrients that affect the growth of hair, you would need to include almost everything. Proteins, fats, and several vitamins and minerals are necessary for healthy hair. Therefore, focusing on two or three nutrients or foods is not advisable unless you have been diagnosed with a specific deficiency. This of course will require professional help, so what you can do yourself is simply eat a varied, healthy diet. In particular, you can ensure that you eat a lot of different fruits and vegetables, since these tend to be neglected by most people; however, some people, on the other hand, do not consume meat, which is a rich source of protein and vitamin B12. If this is the case, you need to compensate with foods such as dairy products and nuts.

As far as hair care goes, you need to wash your hair regularly but not too often, and with the correct shampoo and conditioner. You will need to determine this on your own, as there is no universal standard - see what makes your hair look its best, and go ahead accordingly. In addition, regular oiling of hair will also help, preferably with coconut oil.
