There are various ways you can try to get rid of scabies. If you know for a fact that your partner has scabies, you should also know that it is a well established infestation that the person is suffering from. This is primarily because a normal infestation with scabies mites is just about detected long after it has already settled itself nicely in its host. Sometime, a period as long as a month can pass before you detect the scabies infestation. The main reason for this is that scabies mites can live on their host quite benignly for anywhere from a day to about one or two months. The itching sensation will only manifest after that period. When two generations of scabies mites have evolved, subsequent generations have the power to produce itching.

In order to get rid of a scabies infestation, it is essential to maintain hygienic habits. To begin with, you must sanitize the person who has them. This would also include sanitizing their clothes and all surroundings. Make the person who has the infection have a bath with a sulfur based shampoo repeatedly. It is also important to wash with very hot water, as hot as can be tolerated. All the clothes of the affected person should also be washed in the same sulfur based shampoo in steaming hot water. This is the strongest remedial measure you can take to get rid of scabies. This should be repeated at least twice daily till the infestation begins to abate. If you are doing only this, then it will take about a week to fully leave. To be on the safe side, continue this method for another week after the infestation has been eradicated from your body.

Another highly effective method to get rid of scabies mite is taking a sauna regularly. This should be done for at least a week. If you can get it, orange oil should be added to the room as this is strong enough to kill the mites. Alternately, you can also add eucalyptus or tea tree oil to the sauna. These can also be added to bathwater as an additional safety method. Just bear in mind that these are string oils and should be used in moderation or they may damage your skin. Another thing you should be aware of is that mites mostly live on the human body. They are parasitic in nature and feed off the flesh. This is a reason they really cannot survive in clothing and bedding.
