The skin area under your fingernails, which is sticking to them is called the cuticle. There are many easy ways to get rid of peeling skin under fingernails or peeling cuticles. All of them, however, would require you to follow a proper routine of nail care. Unless you do so, it will not be possible for you to stop this peeling. The first thing you would have to do is keep your hands out of the water as much as you can. Regular exposure to water is what causes this to happen in the first place. If your hands are constantly in and out of water, then this will cause your skin to become brittle. Since skin around the nails is a little thick to begin with, the brittleness will be the maximum in that area. If you must work with water frequently, begin wearing gloves. This will help you to a large extent. It is also important that you keep your hands well moisturized at all times. For this purpose, you should apply a moisturizing cream to your hands frequently during the day and massage it in well for a minute or two each time. This will be particularly helpful in keeping your cuticles moist and supple. Olive oil is the best product to use for this purpose. This also has healing properties, which will help to heal your already cracked cuticles as well.
In order to maintain the good health of your skin under fingernails (cuticles), you must also make it a point to get a weekly manicure, at least to begin with. A month or so later, you can switch to making this a monthly procedure. A manicure will help by keeping your cuticles trimmed and clean. It will also generally help to maintain the health and good looks of the skin on your hands. Cuticle creams are freely and easily available. In order to maintain healthy and neat cuticles, you must make it a point to apply those as well. You can also make your own with a mixture of petroleum jelly and olive oil. This will have excellent results. You should also make it a point to stop using harsh soaps on your hands. Start using moisturizing soap that contains cream at all times. It is best to switch to this even for your bathing, as it will give you excellent skin overall. You must always keep in mind that pretty and neat cuticles or skin under finger nails are always a result of regular care and maintenance of your hands.
