Menopause is a condition that is accompanied by vast and varied changes in women. The most unique thing about menopause is that is affects each woman differently. There are no definite signs of menopause that can be put down as a rule apart from age and the cessation of the menstrual cycle. Developing facial hair in menopause can also be a sign of menopause, and it is equally possible that it is not a sign of menopause as well. However, it is not an indicator that menopause has set in. That is to say, if you have begun developing facial hair and are the right age for the onset of menopause, you cannot assume that you are going through menopause. In other words there is no direct relation between menopause and facial hair growth. There are several other signs and symptoms that should actually alert you about menopause. You will feel your body changing in several ways to accommodate your new hormonal changes. There are some symptoms of menopause that are commonly acknowledged. You can look out for those as well as other subtle signs that will tell you where your body is headed.
The most prominently accepted sign of menopause is that you will stop getting your monthly period. If this has happened for a year or more, you an be assured that you now fall in the category of menopausal. One of the commonest signs that you are at the beginning of menopause is the onset of hot flashes. Hot flashes mean that you will get sudden bouts of feeling intensely hot, accompanied with uncontrollable sweating. There will be no real reason for these hot flashes and they will occur despite the weather and any temperature you might find yourself in. Night sweats are also another sign of menopause. You will find your upper body, especially the scalp and neck, perspiring freely, as though you are sitting in a sauna or a steam room. This is also a commonly acknowledged sign of menopause. Sometimes, hot flashes may also be accompanied with night sweats. Unusual, excessive and sudden weight gain or weight loss is also a sign that you may be suffering the start of menopause. Excessive vaginal dryness is also a sign of menopause. Sometimes, you will be dry to the point of feeling uncomfortable, especially during intercourse. Menopausal women also generally experience extreme mood swings. Of course, there is no way to measure this aspect. Check for these signs and see if you are experiencing at least half of them.
