It is totally true that there are various types of eczema. The commonest type of eczema is known as atopic eczema. This is the type of eczema that generally affects people who inherit allergy related skin disorders. There are also some types of eczema that only affect only adults. It could be possible that you are suffering from one of those types. This usually begins during infancy and may stay on for the rest of your life. It is the kind of eczema that essentially affects the face, ears and neck. It may sometimes also affect the torso or the feet or the outer skin of the elbows. It may sometimes also manifest in the inside of the elbow, knee or wrist. One type of eczema is known as contact eczema, which is caused by irritants and allergens that come in contact with the skin. Substances that do not agree with the skin may include soap, saliva, water, perspiration, perfume, make up, creams or lotions, shampoos, clothing or any other liquid. This is commonly also mistaken for a general skin allergy. Another type of eczema that usually affects people late in life is varicose eczema. This is usually manifested in the skin of the lower legs and around the ankles. Hand eczema is a chronic type of eczema which can occur due to strong detergents or frequent washing of hands. It can also occur due to an allergy to latex. Discoid eczema mostly affects the arms and legs in adult males. This is the kind of eczema that sometimes also emits fluid. Asteatotic eczema is mostly occurs in the elderly in areas of poor circulation such as the lower legs. Nummular eczema is also a type of eczema that occurs in adults.

While there are a vast variety of ailments, some of which are severe enough to only be cured with strong medications such as steroids and antibiotics, you should understand that mostly, eczema is a condition caused by excessive dryness of the skin. Your best bet is to keep your skin constantly and heavily hydrated. This will resolve at least part of the problem quite easily and effectively. It is always better to use hypoallergenic and organic substances for people who are afflicted with almost any kind of eczema. This will ensure that you are not exposing your skin to allergens, at least. For medical cures, you should try to consult a dermatologist instead of a regular physician.
