The texture of hair and the way it grows vary from one person to the next. To some extent, this is genetic - in fact, the texture of your hair is mostly determined by your genes - but the state of your health also has an effect on your hair. If you are not in the best of health, then this will show in your hair. You should therefore ensure that your diet and lifestyle are healthy. A number of foods are promoted as being good for the hair. While it is true that certain nutrients are required in order for hair to grow properly, the list of these nutrients is very long, and it is therefore not practical to follow such a list. Your hair needs protein, fat, and several minerals and vitamins. A better approach is to simply ensure that your diet contains all the possible nutrients, not just the ones that affect your hair. To do this, your diet needs to be varied; rather than focusing on two or three fruits and vegetables, you need to have a lot of variety. Fruits, vegetables, whole grain, dairy products, eggs, and meat are all necessary in moderation. If you are a vegetarian, then meat and possibly eggs too will be out of the question, but you should then make sure to compensate by eating more dairy products as well as plant sources of protein, such as legumes. Vitamin B12 is also best obtained from animal sources of food, so if you are a vegetarian, you may need to take supplements of this vitamin.

Besides this, you need to ensure that you get enough sleep daily, and that you are not overly fatigued or stressed . Exercise is also important - you should get at least half an hour of exercise daily. In addition, you should limit your intake of alcohol and caffeine, and completely avoid tobacco in any form.

In addition, it is necessary to physically protect your hair from damage. Too much sunlight, too much wind, and too much dust and pollution can all adversely affect your hair. Therefore, if you are exposed to such conditions, use a scarf or cap to protect your hair. You should also oil your hair a few times a week, preferably using coconut oil. This will make your hair stronger and protect it from the elements.. If these measures don't help, then you will need to visit a hair specialist for professional guidance.
