In order to regain lost fairness, you will have to start at the beginning. The very first thing you should try to figure out is why you became dark. Most of the time, we do not realize that even a five minute exposure to the sunlight will affect our skin so much that it will become extremely dark. Repeated exposure will only continually darken your skin further and more. The best way to deal with this is to start using sunscreen each and every time you go out of your home. Make it a point to apply sunscreen each morning after a bath. If you have had a warm bath, it will be more effective since the lotion or cream, whatever you apply will settle into your skin well and not allow the sun to affect you overly. You should also know that applying sun screen once a day does not suffice. You would have to repeat the procedure about five to seven times a day if you want to protect your body from the sun completely and totally. Apart from this basic method, there are also some things you can apply to your skin to restore lost color. Make a paste of tomatoes with a few drops of lime juice added to it. This needs to be scrubbed on your whole body for about 20 minutes each evening. Make it a point to do this after the sun has set. The reason for this is that if you should chance to come in contact with direct sunlight after using this method, then your skin will only become darker. This is because both tomatoes as well as lime are both photosynthetic agents and will only serve to darken your skin further if exposed to the sun after being applied to your bare skin.

You can also get into the habit of scrubbing your darkened skin with a mixture of yogurt, lime juice and a bit of gram flour. These ingredients should make a pulp that can easily spread and will effectively work at removing any tanning caused by the sun. It is also important to exfoliate your skin at least twice a week. This will not allow dead skin cells to fester and cause other problems as well. Use any exfoliating agent that is in keeping with your skin type for this purpose. These methods will work effectively and well, but you should know that they will tale time.
