Dry and frizzy hair occurs for a variety of reasons. You might be over-exposing your hair to the elements: too much of sunshine or walking around in extremely windy conditions without wrapping a scarf around your hair can be one reason. Over-use of chemicals on your hair can be another reason as can be the over-use of hair straighteners or curlers or hairdryers, and similar products. Or it just might be that your hair is naturally dry and frizzy! There are many simple home remedies which will help you to calm down your hair so that it becomes more manageable. For one try not to shampoo your hair more often than twice a week: too much washing of the hair even with so-called gentle shampoos can lead to your hair being stripped of its essential moisture which will then cause it to frizz. When you do wash it make sure you use a conditioner, if possible a leave-in conditioner which will not be washed off.
Once a week or so use one of these home remedies: heat half a cup of mayonnaise till it becomes oily and then work it into your hair. Cover with a warm towel and rinse and shampoo after half an hour. If you do not want to apply mayo to your hair beat an egg thoroughly and apply it to your scalp and the roots of your hair. Massage it in gently but well, until you can feel it foaming and then rinse it off. Once a week, before shampooing, you could also do a warm oil treatment for your hair: warm about 2-3 tablespoons full of either coconut oil or almond oil and apply it to your scalp and hair, partitioning your hair into sections and massaging it into the hair and roots. Once the entire head is covered heat a towel and wrap it around your head. Replace it when it cools. Do this for about half an hour, at the end of which shampoo as usual. In a week when you are rushed for time you could also omit the oil/egg/mayo treatment and instead rinse your hair after your shampoo with either diluted vinegar or beer.
Always cover your head when out in strong sunshine or strong winds. Also wear a cap when swimming as exposure to water whether salty or chlorinated does cause damage. And avoid rubbing your hair when drying it, pat it dry.
